Trademark search & clearance
We search the UAE register for identical and confusingly similar marks before you file, so you do not pay fees on a mark that will be refused.
Corporate Compliance
Your brand name and logo are worth protecting before someone else registers them. We provide end-to-end trademark registration services in Dubai and across the UAE: a clearance search, the right classes, filing with the Ministry of Economy & Tourism, publication and objections, and your 10-year certificate in hand, at a fixed fee agreed before we start.
What it means
A trademark is any distinctive sign that tells customers your goods or services come from you: a name, word, logo, letters, numbers, a signature, a colour arrangement, a packaging shape, or a combination of these. Registering it gives you the exclusive legal right to use that sign for the goods and services you registered it for, and the right to stop others using anything confusingly similar.
In the UAE, trademarks are registered federally with the Ministry of Economy & Tourism (MoET) under Federal Decree-Law No. 36 of 2021. One registration covers Dubai and every other emirate, mainland and free zone alike. There is no separate Dubai trademark, which is why trademark registration services in Dubai always mean a federal filing.
Marks are registered per class under the Nice Classification (45 classes of goods and services), one application per class. Registration lasts 10 years from the filing date and is renewable for further 10-year terms without limit.
A trade licence does not protect your brand. Your licence lets a company trade under a name; only a registered trademark stops a competitor from using that name or logo on their own products. If you sell under a brand in the UAE, the trademark is the asset that makes it yours.
What we handle
From checking the mark is available to keeping it renewed, one team handles every stage with the Ministry, so you deal with us and nobody else.
We search the UAE register for identical and confusingly similar marks before you file, so you do not pay fees on a mark that will be refused.
We map your goods and services to the right Nice classes and draft a specification that protects what you actually sell, now and next year.
We prepare the application, power of attorney and supporting documents and submit them to MoET, with the expedited one-day examination if you need it.
We pay the publication fee on time, monitor the 30-day objection window and respond to any third-party opposition on your behalf.
We track your 10-year renewal date and record changes of owner, name, address or licensing so the register always matches reality.
We extend your UAE mark to over 130 countries through a single Madrid Protocol application, or file directly in the GCC and other key markets.
Official fees
These are the Ministry of Economy & Tourism fees per mark, per class. Our professional fee is quoted separately as one fixed amount, so you see the full cost before anything is filed.
| Stage | MoET fee | When it is paid |
|---|---|---|
| Examination (regular) | AED 750 | On filing; decision within 20 working days |
| Examination (expedited, one business day) | AED 2,250 | Optional, instead of the regular fee |
| Publication in the trademark bulletin | AED 750 | Within 30 days of the acceptance decision |
| Final registration & certificate | AED 5,000 | Within 30 days of the objection period ending |
| Total government fees, regular track | AED 6,500 | Per mark, per class |
Late payment is penalised: AED 100 per month (up to AED 1,000 a year) if the publication fee is late, and AED 1,000 per month (up to AED 10,000 a year) if the registration fee is late, counted for any part of a month. We diarise both deadlines so neither penalty ever applies. Quality (certification) marks carry a higher registration fee of AED 7,500.
What's involved
The Ministry's core requirements are short. We prepare, notarise and file each item for you and keep a copy on record.
A clear image of the word mark, logo or combined mark exactly as you want it protected.
Required where the applicant is a company or establishment, in the UAE or abroad.
Certified and notarised in our favour as your registered agent; legally translated into Arabic if issued outside the UAE.
Full legal name, nationality or country of incorporation, address and contact details of the owner.
What the mark will be used on, so we can pick the class and draft the specification.
If you filed the same mark abroad within the last six months, the earlier filing can be claimed as priority.
Only for collective or quality (certification) marks, together with the rules governing use of the mark.
Applicants based outside the UAE must file through a registered agent with a notarised, translated power of attorney. That is us.
The signals
The UAE grants rights to whoever files first, not whoever used the name first. If any of these apply, file before you are visible.
A new company, product line or restaurant concept about to go public. Register before the name appears on signage, packaging or social media.
Amazon, Noon and most platforms ask for a registration certificate to open a brand store or take down copycat listings.
You cannot license what you do not own. A registered mark is the asset a franchise or distribution agreement is built on.
A brand established elsewhere has no automatic rights here. File in the UAE, or extend your home registration through the Madrid Protocol.
A competitor is using a similar name or logo. A registration is what lets you demand they stop, and lets Customs seize counterfeits.
Ten years pass quickly. A lapsed mark can be picked up by anyone; we renew it before the expiry date and record any changes at the same time.
How we help
The Ministry's procedure has fixed stages and fixed deadlines. We run each one for you and tell you which step you are on.
We search the UAE register for conflicting marks, confirm the mark is registrable, agree the classes and quote a fixed fee.
We prepare the power of attorney and application, file with MoET and pay the AED 750 examination fee (or AED 2,250 for one-day examination).
The Ministry examines the mark and notifies its decision. If it raises objections or rejects, we respond or appeal within the 30-day window.
On acceptance we pay the AED 750 publication fee and the mark appears in the official trademark bulletin. Third parties have 30 days to object.
We pay the AED 5,000 registration fee, collect your certificate and diarise the renewal date ten years out.
What you receive
At the end of the process the Ministry of Economy & Tourism issues a trademark registration certificate in Arabic. It is the document you present to Customs, marketplaces, franchisees and courts as proof that the mark is yours.
Every certificate carries the same core details, so it is worth knowing how to read one:
We check every field against your application before handing it over, so a typo in the owner name or class never surfaces later during a dispute or renewal.
Quick answers
The Ministry of Economy & Tourism charges AED 750 for examination (AED 2,250 for the one-day expedited option), AED 750 for publication in the trademark bulletin and AED 5,000 for the final registration, so AED 6,500 in government fees per mark per class on the regular track. Our professional fee for search, filing, follow-up and certificate collection is quoted as one fixed amount before we start.
The Ministry aims to issue a decision on the application within 20 working days. Once accepted, the mark is published in the official bulletin and a 30-day objection period runs from the bulletin date. If nobody objects, the registration certificate is issued within 30 days of that period ending. In practice, allow around three to four months from filing to certificate if there are no objections.
Yes. Trademarks are registered federally with the Ministry of Economy & Tourism, so one registration protects your mark in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and every other emirate, including the free zones. There is no separate Dubai-only trademark.
A registered trademark is protected for 10 years from the filing date and can be renewed for further 10-year periods indefinitely. We track the renewal date for you so the mark never lapses.
A clear copy of the mark in JPEG format, a copy of your trade licence if the applicant is a company, and, when filing through an agent, a duly certified and notarised power of attorney. Owners based outside the UAE must file through a registered agent with a notarised, legally translated power of attorney.
Yes. A company or individual with no UAE licence can own a UAE trademark, but the application must be submitted through a registered trademark agent with a notarised and legally translated power of attorney. We act as your agent for the filing.
Names, words, logos, letters, numbers, signatures, drawings, symbols, colours in a distinctive arrangement, packaging shapes and combinations of these, as long as the mark is distinctive and does not conflict with an earlier mark. Marks that are descriptive, misleading, contrary to public order or that resemble official emblems are refused, and certain goods, such as alcoholic beverages in class 33, cannot be registered.
Yes. The UAE follows the Nice Classification of 45 classes of goods and services and each application covers one class. If your brand spans several classes, for example a restaurant name that is also used on packaged products, you file one application per class and each carries its own government fees.
If the Ministry rejects the mark, you can appeal to the Trademarks Committee within 30 days of the decision. If a third party files an objection during the 30-day publication period, you are given the chance to respond. We prepare the response or appeal and see it through.
Yes. The UAE is a member of the Madrid Protocol, so once your UAE application is filed we can extend protection to more than 130 countries through a single international application, rather than filing country by country.
